Our story
A small studio for the nail you already have
Huyen opened Basecoat in Willow Glen to do one thing well: look after natural nails.
Huyen grew up in a family salon and wanted a quieter place, with three tables and time to look at each client’s nails before starting. Dieu and Manish joined her early on. We work with polish, gel polish and a thin layer of builder gel, and we say plainly what a service will and will not do.

What we will not do
No long sets, and no pressure
We would rather you leave with nails you can live with.
We do not do acrylic or dip powder, and we will not talk you into a service your nails do not need. If a nail is painful or looks unwell, we suggest you ask a doctor before we work on it.
